The new vehicle category , designated small motorized bicycles (commonly known as designated small mopeds) , which came into effect in July 2023 , is a new vehicle category that limits the maximum speed to 20 km/h, does not require a driver's license for riders aged 16 or over, and requires riders to wear helmets.

What is a specific small moped?
From July 1, 2023, electric scooters and other vehicles that meet certain requirements will be classified as specific small motorized bicycles, and new traffic rules will apply.

Terms of Use
Legally, it is a specified small motorized bicycle. It can be ridden on public roads without a license. Please observe the following basic bicycle rules for safe riding.
- As a general rule, cyclists must ride on the roadway, staying close to the left edge of the road. Riding on the sidewalk is an exception, and cyclists must drive slowly from the center of the sidewalk closer to the roadway. In addition, cyclists must stop temporarily if they are obstructing pedestrians.
- At intersections, please obey traffic lights and stop signs, and make sure it is safe. Also, when exiting a narrow road onto a wide one, be sure to slow down and check for safety.
- The lights are on at night.
- Drinking and driving is prohibited.
- Wearing a helmet is mandatory and is recommended for safety reasons.
