Anyone aged 16 or over can ride a specified small moped without a license (although wearing a helmet is mandatory). The glafit NFR-01 PRO is an electric kick scooter that can be registered as a specified small moped.

The pedals are merely foot rests. The greatest feature of the NFR-01 Pro is that it runs on full electric power without pedaling. This new genre of vehicle, the "electric cycle," conforms to the new moped classification "specified small motorized bicycle (specified moped)" that came into effect in July 2023 and can be driven by anyone aged 16 or over without a license and with the obligation to wear a helmet. It may look ordinary, but it is a new vehicle that literally runs smoothly.

The NFR-01Pro can also be switched to the legal sidewalk mode* (6km/h sidewalk-permitted riding mode). This allows you to ride your bike on the sidewalk without having to walk, although this is limited to sidewalks where regular bicycles are permitted.
Although legal requirements mean that switching modes while riding is not possible, you can easily switch between "Road/Bicycle Path Mode" and "Sidewalk Mode" by simply pressing a button while the bike is stopped. We want people riding electric bikes to continue on peaceful roads.

It's easy to charge by removing the battery or by charging directly into the vehicle.

What is a specific small moped?
From July 1, 2023, electric scooters and other vehicles that meet certain requirements will be classified as specific small motorized bicycles, and new traffic rules will apply.
- Maximum speed: 20km/h or less
- Riding location: Generally ridden on roads, bicycle paths are also permitted
- Driver's license: No license required, but those under 16 years of age cannot drive

Precautions

Terms of Use
Legally, it is a specified small motorized bicycle. It can be ridden on public roads without a license. Please observe the following basic bicycle rules for safe riding.
- As a general rule, cyclists must ride on the roadway, staying close to the left edge of the road. Riding on the sidewalk is an exception, and cyclists must drive slowly from the center of the sidewalk closer to the roadway. In addition, cyclists must stop temporarily if they are obstructing pedestrians.
- At intersections, please obey traffic lights and stop signs, and make sure it is safe. Also, when exiting a narrow road onto a wide one, be sure to slow down and check for safety.
- The lights are on at night.
- Drinking and driving is prohibited.
- Wearing a helmet is mandatory and is recommended for safety reasons.
